ON 'A City Driven by Design"

While the idea of a design year is commendable, the parties involved should take this opportunity to openly discuss issues which are critical to the development of the design profession in Hong Kong. Chief among these are the age-old problem of speculative or "free" pitches (which devalue design and destroy rather than create value); the tendency of companies and organizations to ignore designers' intellectual property rights.

The last day of ferry from Hung Hom

As a Hung Hom residents, I'm surely disappointed to see this slow-paced, old-fashioned and romantic habour crossing vehicle gone. I took ferry to work everyday until today and that 15 minutes on board had been one of the mood setting moment of the day, catching the breeze and the smell of the sea.

Also gone are some old-schooled stenciled type.

I thought they would have thrown a party to farewell this long-servicing pier; Instead, it just vanished quietly, with just a few more people taking pictures

Wishing you a happy and healthy year of the Rabbit

In keeping with today's spirit of recycling, and noting how quickly twelve years have flown by, we're pleased to re-send our previous Year of the Rabbit e-card (vintage 1999). The card was one in our series of annually anticipated Chinese New Year's cards featuring first Jinx (who lived to the ripe age of 18) and subsequently Katz, who is 12.  Kung hei!

That's Italian

We recently wrapped up an identity project for a casual Italian restaurant - Bene Italian. We pasted up dozens of photocopies of our interior wall design in sections in order to review it in full scale. We were asked to create a modern-retro look, with authentically Italian visual ingredients.

The application on glass.

We also did the hoarding, in a very short time.

How high the spoon

LTD recently produced a poster for the restaurant W52, for which we previously created the identity and interior walls. It is now installed at the 3rd level of the glass-walled elevator shaft, where VIP diners are put into a relaxed mood.

Yes, it looks as great in our office.
